Between Friends Art Center is a lot more than what meets the eye. At first glance one may think it is just a gift and antique shop, but do not be deceived!
At Between Friends Art Center our mission is to provide a place for the community to create and enjoy art, music, dance and theatre. In the gift shop you will find items that are antique or vintage, as well as collectibles, primitives, folk art, and fine art created by local artists. We are always on the search for unique items that are affordably priced so that everyone can shop and find a treasure. Many of the items for sale are one of a kind, and some items are examples of projects that are taught in our evening adult art and craft classes. The sales from the gift shop help to provide the programs we offer. Everything purchased either in store or online will help to keep the tuition costs low.
We really strive to provide very inexpensive classes in dance and theater for children, and also art and craft classes for adults. The dance classes are held year round, each session ending with a dance recital. We offer different levels of dance in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Irish Step, and Musical Theater, for ages 3 up to adult. Class costs are affordable at only $8.00 per hour class. Discounts are given for students taking multiple classes, and for siblings. A fantastic family discount is also offered.
Our children’s theater program is great for building self confidence, and making new friends. Each session runs several weeks, and ends with a spectacular show open for the entire community to enjoy. Each child learns many skills that will help with all future goals, and is an experience that will last a lifetime. All dance recitals and theatre productions take place in the theatre.
Next Generation Theatre is Brewer’s newest venue for local musicians and actors to perform. It seats 150 people, and is also available to be rented for private parties, meetings, receptions, and more. The theatre is located on the first floor of the Art Center, just walk through the gift shop to the back of the building. We try our best to offer great shows weekly, and are always looking for talented musicians and performers of all ages. A lunch-time café will be opening soon with fresh soups, salads, and sandwiches, as well as coffees, teas, and desserts.
