"To me theater means acceptance and diversity. In theater it doesn't matter what you look like, you will get the role that best suits you as an actor and singer. When I walked into this theater for the first time during rehearsals I was incredibly nervous until I realized how accepting and loving everyone was. Over the years this theater has taught me how to accept everyone and myself. I feel that now I realize that some talent is buried deep within a person, and not to judge by the first glance. Some of my very best friends really aren't what they seemed to be. The quietest one among us is one of the most talented people that I have ever met. Theater is where I get to be myself and not worry what others think of me. Theater is a place where I get to be free and express myself through song and dance. The directors here are the people who I should really thank. They are always supporting me and the entire cast the whole way. I have made so many friends along my journey who are always helping me with absolutely anything. This theater has taught me to love myself, things aren't what they seem, follow your heart, and laughter really is the best medicine." Eila H. age 11 (Theatre Student)
"To me theater means happiness and hard work! It means friendship and fun! I love theatre because I learn new things every day! I have been doing theater since I was 6 years old! I love acting and hanging with my friends! The directors are really nice too! All the shows are really fun and everyone gets a part! Theater can be for anyone! It is a great place to make new friends! It is a great experience! Me and my best friends enjoy singing onstage! Theater is one of the best things in my life!" Harper O. age 11 (Theatre Student)

"Theatre is where I just let go and hang out with my friends. Theatre is where I just let go." Quincy F. age. 9 (Theatre Student)
"To me theater means friendship and happiness, especially at NGT. The directors are really nice, and I have met all my best friends here. You get to show the emotion of characters and make the show special for the audience. My favorite part is the dress rehearsal! In theater you make so many memories that will last forever. Every time I do a show I make new friends, it is chaotic but awesome. Everyone has a chance to get a big role. You get to hear everyone sing until they lose their voices! You meet people like the incredible 'Broadway star' the 'mother/talented one', the 'always singing' and the 'quiet but talented one'". Emma K. age. 12 (Theatre Student)
"What does theater mean to me? It means I can be goofy but have a serious role, it means I can have friends that are from different places and schools with different roles. It also feels like a better version of school. It's fun to see yourself shine and others shine. It's fun to paint sets and play games with your friends. When you walk on stage, be yourself, love yourself, don't be afraid to make mistakes, and it's easy to harden your heart, but to open it... that's the toughest thing you can do!" Zoey M. (Theatre & Workshop Student)
"Matilda is what got me to learn how to read." Moriah (Theatre Student)

The costumes are great. The snacks are great. The reason I’m in my sixth show here is because, this place is the best.” Abby M. (Student)
“Next Generation Theatre has been like a second home for me for the past three years. Everything I have done there has shaped me to be the teenager I am today. I learned how to sing there and I learned how to act there without either of those I would be a completely different person. From Playing Town Crier 4 in “Cinderella” to Belle in “Beauty and the Beast” it has all been like I was a part of a big musical family. I hate to think that I’ll have to leave this family and grow up.” Bridget S. (Student)
“This is a wonderful group working with local talent and offering a lot to the community. Bravo!” Kathleen M. (Brewer, Maine)

The people are great to work with and they’ve become a valuable part of the arts community in the area. Thanks for letting us play in your space!” Rich K. (Bangor, Maine)

“I have been coming to this theatre for a little over 6 years and it’s pretty much my 2nd home. I started when I was just 9 years old and my life ever since then has changed drastically. I was very shy and I had a lot of self esteem issues. However, when I joined this program, I was welcomed with open arms and given a place where I could be myself. I gained so much confidence and made a ton of friends. 6 years later, I am a junior director and I get to help kids the same why past directors helped me. The one thing that separates us the most from other theaters is that we are like a family. I have a friendship with every single kid I work with and they are all super sweet and a blast to work with. Next Generation Theatre offers so many opportunities for all kids. I am so grateful for this theatre, it has given me a place to be myself, act, work with kids, and work on my face painting. The opportunities are endless.” Hannah N. age 15 (Theatre Student)
“I’m having so much fun at art camp, we get to do so many crafts. It’s our 3rd day and we have already done 4 projects, working on our 5th. I love the projects that we are working on and will work on. When I’m all done with art camp this year, I will be so excited to do it next year. Art camp has also inspired me. I will continue to craft a lot more than I usually do. I have so much fun and I can’t wait to continue.” Avery M. age 11 (Art Student)
